Leinster's Luke Fitzgerald made his Ireland debut in November |
Leinster back Luke Fitzgerald has been called up to the Ireland squad for the tour to Argentina in place of Wasps fly-half Jeremy Staunton. Staunton, left out of the Wasps squad for Saturday's Heineken Cup Final, will now take Fitzgerald's place in the Ireland A squad for the Churchill Cup.
The Wasps man has recovered from a thumb injury but he is demoted because of his lack of recent match practice.
Ireland A's opening Churchill Cup game is against Canada on Saturday evening.
Fitzgerald, 19, made his Ireland debut against the Pacific Islands last November.
Ireland coach Eddie O'Sullivan said:"Jeremy has not played in some time and with no game time I thought it would be better for him to get some match practice with the A team."
