Recently appointed Dragons coach Declan Kidney has been confirmed as Gary Ella's replacement at Leinster. Kidney took the Dragons job less than three weeks ago but has been released after talks with the Gwent region.
"We consider people first," said Dragons chief executive Andy Marinos. "Declan's family are based in Ireland, we won't stand in his way."
"We feel it is appropriate to release Declan from his contract with immediate effect."
Kidney, who planned to commute to the Dragons from his home in Ireland, is under contract with the Irish Rugby Football Union until June.

He had planned to tour with Ireland in the summer before taking on the Welsh job in August, but has now signed a three-year contract at Leinster. "I have been extremely happy in my association with Newport Gwent Dragons," said Kidney.
"I would like to state that my decision is based solely on family reasons and would like to thank (Dragons benefactor) Tony Brown and the Dragons management for facilitating my move back to Ireland."

The Dragons, who lost coach Mike Ruddock to Wales at the end of the season, have appointed Newport coach Leigh Jones as their forwards supremo, and are expected to seek a backs coach who would take the lead role at Rodney Parade. The Warriors coaching duo of Allan Lewis and Lynn Howells, who are likely to be out of work with the expected demise of the Warriors, are not thought to be in the running, although Howells has expressed an interest.
"Of course I would be very interested," Howells told BBC Sport Wales. "I would like to think that my agent has contacted the Dragons to register my interest.
"But I think they may be looking for someone who coaches the backs if they hang on to Leigh Jones."
The Dragons have secured the services of number eight Richard Bryan next season, and are favourites to land his fellow Warriors Ceri Sweeney, Gareth Cooper, Gareth Wyatt and Jon Bryant.
