Just as a reminder to James Wafer, Angela Hayes et al who are moaning about the O'Driscoll incident, please remember that the citing commissioner is indepenedent - BOD and SCW are not. At least the Blacks did not stoop to biting - something I am trying to teach my 18-month-old son not to do.
1736 BST: David Hall, Chicago
The NFL have a ruling called "unnecessary roughness". Maybe the IRB should consider a similar rule in light of the way O'Driscoll was disposed of on Saturday?
1617 BST: Kerry Chisnall, North Carolina, USA
As a Kiwi living in the USA I've been very relieved to see the hype and passion attached to the Lions tour in NZ. The "World Champs" labels thrown around here for US teams that win national competitions is over the top sometimes. Great to see the ABs remind the world that they are still consistently the best team in the world - one off title games aside.
1532 BST: Clive B, Watford
Spare a thought for Richard Hill in all this . A career threatening injury is not what he needs after all he has done for Saracens, England and the Lions.
1531 BST: James Wafer, Wellington NZ
It's amazing Danny Grewcock is creating headlines in the evening news and Brian O'Driscoll gets 30 seconds. Now if that ain't biased media coverage I don't know what is.
1521 BST: Mike Berry, Seoul, Korea
Watched the game Saturday at The New Phillies Pub in Seoul...owned by a Kiwi so you can guess the 'Rugby Mania' was spot on for the game. Place was full - mainly All Black fans from the volume - and the atmosphere great. Saw a cracking game with the most dominant AB perfomance in the Test arena for a long time.
1512 BST: Allan Malcolm, Jordan
There is no doubt that Woodward's arrogance in behaving in the manner he did by announcing the Test match squad before the Southlands game was a direct challenge to everyone who queried his methods and management style. Well now he has been found to be anything but the guru he would have us believe. Whatever, at the end of the day it is now down to the players to get their act together and prove that they are worth the places in Lions history and hopefully not as the worst squad ever to tour NZ.

I can not overstate how bad the weather in Christchurch was last night. Hail, the like I haven't seen since gleefully watching Swansea play at St. Helens many moons ago. The atmosphere in the city was fantastic last night, these Kiwis really know their rugby. How prophetic their words were too! The media hype is unbelievable, and as I watched their predictions played out on the pitch, I didn't think the night could get any worse, until I returned to the hospitality tent for some solice and warmth only to be confronted by some 'Tarquin' who complained how badly both Dwayne Peel and Stephen Jones played. You guys saw it all on TV from the comfort of a bar stool (lucky you). Please confirm whether I'm missing something here! Oh, and by the way, the honeymoon is going very well - thank you very much!
1428 BST: Steve Buckley, Sydney
Watched the game in The Oaks on Sydney's north shore. Interesting to see that there were loads of Lions shirts in view, mine included, but hardly any black ones to be seen. Maybe they were hiding themselves away in case of an upset? Of course they became more vocal as the match went on, but the worst part of the evening (apart from the game!) was being heckled by a group of Australian teenagers on the way for a post match curry!
1414 BST: Linzi, Christchurch, NZ
We sat in the rain, sleet and hail last night to watch a good match, with deserving winners. As a Lions fan living in Christchurch, I'm dreading work tomorrow, but I still wear my scarf with pride. The fans at Jade were awesome last night, and the humour made up for the result. We could still win it 2-1. Maybe! Stop slagging 'em off, and support your team. Unless of course, you could do it any better...?
1336 BST: Alan Douglas, Brisbane, Australia
I am a Brit who watched the first Test in an Irish Bar in Brisbane. I was amazed that all the Australians in the bar were supporting the All Blacks. I thought the Aussies didn't even like the Kiwis.
1334 BST: Andy Phipps, Scotland
I am not interested in having cheap shots at players or management after a defeat, but you must admit telling players a week earlier that they will not be involved in the Test team must be counter productive as regards morale. Pick the team after the midweek game, play the men in form.
1332 BST: Matt, UK
Having had a wonderful experience following the 1993 tour, I had planned to take my 18 year old son to watch the Lions this year. I changed my mind after last year's England trip down under, when I became sickened by the torrent of foul-minded abuse masquerading as commentary. When the growing trend towards crude and unpleasant stereotypes reached a point when I could bear it no more, I decided that my tourist dollars were better spent somewhere else where I might feel more welcome. I seriously worry that rugby's ethos is in grave danger from the incessant hatred and borderline racism that seems such a feature these days, especially when anything remotely "English" is under discussion. How long before we see crowd violence? Perhaps the idiots who propagate such bile should take a good look at the damage they are doing to the game.
1329 BST: Kevin, Christchurch
What a build up to the first Test. If wasn't the Barmy Army fans showing their colours around Christchurch it was the locals and school kids dressing up in black. Despite the weather and the result, it is good to see the fans enjoying and, supporting their teams. Thank you Barmy Army for showing how to really support your team, fingers crossed we can do the same when All Blacks tour Europe at the end of the year.
1320 BST: Angela Hayes, Wirral
By way of protest at the unpunished tackle on Brian, all Lions supporters should turn their backs on the Haka in silence, at the next Tests.
1309 BST: DJ, Auckland, New Zealand
I went to the game last night (very cold). It is so good to have the very popular Lions fans in New Zealand. It makes for a great event. It is very sad to see Brain O'D out of the tour. Everybody feels for him. It is little unfortunate that he is making the comments that he is, but it is probably caused by disappointment. It must be understood that the ruck is a very physical area, and often players will get injured. I just hope that it is noted that one of the accused is one of the cleanest players in the game. Let's hope that Brain has a speedy recovery.
1255 BST: David, Brisbane, Australia
I find the criticism of New Zealand fans by Lions supporters ironic. I wonder if those providing said criticism made the last antipodal tour? Most tourists were good value, but there were also a number of abusive louts.
1246 BST: New Zealand Herald
The Lions will spend most of this week trying to fix a lineout that was less reliable than a 1970s Skoda. The Lions lost eight of their 13 throws, partly because of poor calls, poor communication, poor throws and partly because of the brilliant interference run by Ali Williams and Chris Jack. But it won't just be the lineout that needs serious rethinking. The Lions were out-fought and outplayed in each and every department. 1223 BST: Tim, Christchurch
In reply to the comment about Kiwi fans treating the Lions fans poorly on Saturday, what a load of rubbish. I have had contact with around a hundred Lions supporters today at work in Christchurch, and to a man they all commented that although the Lions got massacred, they had a wonderful time. Nothing but positives! Any who say otherwise are in the minority, or just poor losers. Most Lions fans have been awesome ambassadors for their countries.
1213 BST: Shawn, Auckland
Re: Marcus from Bedfordshire's comment - really sorry to hear that you have been abused by Kiwi fans. Totally unacceptable, hope you do go to the other Tests and do not have to encounter that bad behaviour again. Not all Kiwis are like this - many apologies from a Kiwi who knows how to be good winner.
1135 BST: Undercover Kiwi
Much has been said about the tackle that ended Brian O'Driscoll's tour - mostly by O'Driscoll himself but what seems to have been forgotten is that the independent citing commissioner Willem Venter did not regard the offence as worthy of a judicial hearing. Sean Fitzpatrick said that when he saw footage of the incident his opinion was that there was no intent to harm. End of story. One wonders if the carping about the tackle is just a smokescreen to deflect criticism of an inept Lions performance.
Ex-NZ coach Laurie Mains writing in the Sunday News
The Lions proved what I have been saying since they first
touched down here - they are the worst Lions team to come to New
Zealand.
1049 BST: Bob Munro, Christchurch, New Zealand
I saw my first Lions test in Dunedin when I was eight sitting on a wooden plank on the sideline when Don Clarke's boot triumphed over five Lions tries in 1959. Last night I took my 16-year-old son along and sat in the open stand at the southern end of the ground in the rain and the hail. The atmosphere before the game was marvellous. About a third of the spectators were in red. As soon as the Lions appeared to do their warm ups their supporters started chanting urgently and there was an energy around the stadium that was wonderful to be part of. As a Kiwi though I was watching the All Blacks warm up and the main impression I had was how relaxed they appeared. Some including Daniel Carter, stayed on the field practising drills and kicking until just a few minutes before the start. The Welsh choir and the singing by the Lion's supporters were wonderful in the formal entertainment before the start. The New Zealand contribution that followed with some limp pop star was inappropriate and pathetic. A spectator turned to the Irish supporters beside us and said 'Well you won the singing, mate'.
Former All Blacks captain Taine Randall
Finally the over-used line about northern hemisphere
forwards being more dominant than the rest of the world has been
blown out of the water.
1042 BST: Kev Grice, on tour in NZ
Despite me getting drenched, frozen stiff and watching us get thrashed by a team that is two years in front of the home nations teams in terms of skill, intensity and mental strength, at least this result will concentrate the mind of Woodward and hopefully make him pick players in form and in position. The loss of Dallaglio and O'Driscoll will be hard to cover up but it is time for someone to take command on the pitch. Also, I hope the next referee will be able to understand his touch judges and will be watching the players not the ball as he missed some blatant blocking, tripping and off-the-ball fouls.
1031 BST: Danny Grewcock, Lions lock
I have to accept the decision and that means for me the Tour is over. I have decided therefore that I will return home as soon as I can. I think that is the best course of action for me, and for the tour. 0956 BST: Roger Huw Jones, Tokyo, Japan
I had to endure this debacle in a pub in Tokyo packed with rabid Kiwi fans. They had everything to cheer for, I had my beer to cry in! I have rarely seen such a lack of passion or intensity from a side in a long, long time. I take my hat off to a superb All Blacks display, which emanated from a towering performance from their pack, that stole ball at will in the line-outs, disrupted the scrum and basically continually pressed over the gain line.
0920 BST: HowardM, UK
I am amazed Danny Grewcock gets banned and the two All Blacks got away scott free. Seems like a bit of double standards here. If you were suspicious you could think it was because it was being held in New Zealand. Perhaps very cynical but it makes you think........
0911 BST: Adam, Sydney
The behaviour of many of the Lions supporters on flights between London and Sydney last week was appalling! Not only were they drunk from all the beers they'd smuggled on board the flights in their hand luggage, they were loud and abusive towards other passengers. Hopefully the Maoris will sort them out in NZ.
0906 BST: Marcus, Bedfordshire
Went to the match last night. Up until the game all the Kiwis I spoke to were in good humour and there was some good light-hearted banter between fans. During and after the game it was completely different. Non-stop abuse from Kiwi supporters in the crowd and walking back from the game had almost non-stop goading from Kiwi fans from their cars calling us everything under the sun. Never known such ungraceful winners. Really soured being in Christchurch and think I'm going to skip going to the next two Tests and find something else to do in New Zealand.
0835 BST: BBC Sport
Lions lock Danny Grewcock has been banned for two months after being found guilty of biting. 0834 BST: Paul Weldrand, Palmerston North, New Zealand
Ex pat Brit here! I had to watch the first Test in a Kiwi pub surrounded by the locals, not happy at all, not sure Clive's got this one right, not looking forward to the next game!
0710 BST: Martine, Taffs Well
I'm currently in New Zealand on a world trip, I've hooked up with some mates from home and touring in a camper van along with 1000's of others!
0643 BST: Rob, Lyttelton, Christchurch
Well the fans have done you proud, everybody here loves the Lions supporters. Pity they didn't have much to cheer about. Better luck next time......
0601 BST: Alan Robey, Auckland
A massive squad, massive support team. Did they bring a line-out coach? Despite the poor performances in the warm-up games, as a Brit I'd hoped the Lions would show that the Test team had been honing their skills and would at least get the basics right.
0429 BST: Nosk, Christchurch, NZ
What a great atmosphere last night !! Awesome to have all the Lions supporters over here having a great time. Wasn't a very good performance by the men in red last night but we won't write them off just yet. Get more of those Welsh boys in there and stop living on past glories with has-beens like Back and Greenwood. Cheers to all the Lions supporters in Warners Bar on Friday night - what a session !!!!
0400 BST: Sandy Black, Taranaki
I guess this finally proves the point that rugby is a younger men's game and all the media headlines and interviews can't make a sports team, or its individual players, the best in the world. All the P's can though - professionalism, persistence, passion, and most importantly playing as a team with a far higher level of skill. After watching the replay this morning it is quite clear that grizzling about cheap shots won't change a thing - the better team won, and won easily.
0312 BST: Niall Martin, Auckland, NZ
As an Irishman living in NZ it is gonna be a bit of an embarrassing day going to work on Monday - but in fairness it is like men playing against boys. The All Blacks hammered the Lions and unfortunately I don't think that O'Driscoll even would have made too much difference. Felt very sorry for Byrne also as there seemed to be zero communication at line outs. It's time for Clive Woodward to look at the Welsh players as they clearly have the greatest heart.
0301 BST: Chris Hunt, Tauranga
Runners in front of the kicker, dangerous foul play, deliberate knock ons, tripping an opponent, forward passes, not releasing the ball when tackled and not rolling away from the tackle. I've never seen a referee at the highest level miss so many incidents. The only thing that's keeping the attention away from him is the very poor performance by the Lions. Sour grapes maybe but bring on the second Test and let's just do away with all rules this time!
0155 BST: Steve Daube, Wellington, NZ
I'd just like to send out to Brian O'Driscoll heartfelt condolence for a terrible way to exit the game and the series. He is a patriot for Ireland and the Lions and I was looking forward to his contest with Tana!! Just hope there was nothing sinister in how it happened. They'll bounce back. Cheers to the Lions from an All Black supporter!
0116 BST: Jimmyjive, Auckland
It was amusing to read the comments on this blog prior to the first test. Comments that I interpreted as "sob, sob, the NZ Media aren't saying nice things about our team. whine, whine. They are soooo biased!" Look, the media simply reported on the evidence at hand - the fact that in their pre-Test games the Lions looked far from a team that would trouble the All-Blacks. We knew it. You guys knew it - that's why there were so many comments along the lines of "Clive is clever you know, and he has got some tricks up his sleeve". The reporting wasn't biased. Just telling it how it is. Last night proved it.
