Thanks BBC and all you fellow players, ex-players and lovers of the game world-wide who have sent in your comments and saved my sanity. Here in the "Excited States", outside the small-but-loaded-with-talent-world-of-rugby, 99.9% of those asked would tell you that Maori is an Irish girl's name! Far worse, the matches aren't shown anywhere within reasonable driving distance!
1631 BST: Hugo McNeill, Radio Five Live
The Lions have got to decide who is hooker and the jumpers pretty soon because they have to work together. Brian O'Driscoll will come in for attention. The New Zealanders will focus on the line-out and the captain and he will have to stay calm. Lawrence Dallaglio was a massive loss for him because he took a lot of the pressure off. So a pack leader, whether it is Paul O'Connell or Martin Corry, has to really emerge. 1520 BST: Paul, Leicester
To win big matches you need to play your first choice players. Woodward knows his Test team now so get them on the pitch playing the matches which count. A learning curve for Woody was the Maori match so from the next match until the final match, no more excuses.
1446 BST: Riwai, Christchurch
After the Maori game, the intensity of the tour is starting to pick up and Wellington will go off on Wednesday. The Lions concept is awesome, bring on longer tours!
1415 BST: Gareth Edwards, Radio Five Live
At this time of the year we are all Lions and that is very important. The team needs to pull together now. The problem is that they never got to grips with the pace of the game. There will be some doubts but they have to eliminate that and beat Wellington. 1351 BST: Jeremy Smith, Philippines
A disappointing game all round with too many handling errors. We need to get a better understanding of the way the game is played in Kiwi land. We should not panic however, only three games into the tour and after all we are there to win three test matches. Spencer you should leave Somerset and get on a plane to the Philippines you can buy cider here and watch the game !!
1301 BST: Tom, Leicester
The Lions lacked players who can really change games against the Maori, players such as Wilkinson, Murphy, Henson, Robinson etc. O'Driscoll and Lewsey were disappointing at times - two dead-certain players for the test squad.
1223 BST: Simon, Dunedin
You poor, poor Lions supporters. It's not a question of whether we will win all three Tests, but by what margin. The AB's should win each Test by at least 15-20 points. I'll be at the game in Christchurch, so will see you all there. Maybe bring a black jacket so you can slip it on at half time and maybe no-one will notice.
1149 BST: Doddie Weir, Radio Five Live
The Lions have to try and be a bit more disciplined. It's very difficult to try and win any games at this level with 14 men. Andrew Sheridan was a bit nave to throw a punch. If you are going to do that you have got to try and take someone off with you to even up the contest. 1107 BST: Danny Elmer, Essex
What's all the panic about. The Lions are there for three games only. Woodward did not win the World Cup from being a bad coach, he is drawing New Zealand into a false sense of security.
1040 BST: Andrew Leakey, Taiwan
Times have changed. Part of the reason England defeated NZ in 2003 was strength in the forwards. The Lions strength is clearly in the backs. Stop relying on the has-beens of 2003 and play with the form. Let's return to the style of rugby adopted by Wales in the Six Nations, not the style of rugby England won the World Cup.
1032 BST: Rob Andrew, Radio Five Live
We have to get the pack right, then we can put this tour back on track. They are not sure who should be loose-head prop, they tried Sheridan and it did not really work. New Zealand have clearly targeted Steve Thompson's throwing. There is always a problem with Steve when sides put him under pressure. Unfortunately in the NZ camp they have Wayne Smith who was Steve's coach at Northampton and is now one of Graham Henry's assistants. Henry, Smith and Steve Hansen know the British players inside out so they put a lot of pressure on the line-out. Second row is a bit of a problem because no-one has really stood up and taken control. 1019 BST: Phil, Goldfields, Western Australia
I am looking forward to some great games in New Zealand. I leave Perth next Saturday with my missus, a campervan and a union jack. After yesterday's game at least we know we are in for a contest and a great holiday.
1002 BST: Ex-pat Geordie
Lions now face Wellington fielding its provincial team and should win but Otago will be more like the Maori. If these two are not beaten Sir Clive has serious problems as he will run out of time for combinations to gel. The referees have been lenient too - allowing Lions to lie on the ball and that won't continue. The travelling Barmy Army have been a credit to the UK and the Lions, good ambassadors.
0948 BST: Lawrence Dallaglio, Radio Five Live
The Maori loss was disappointing but not disastrous. The nation are going to turn against us and we have to show some character. We lost a tour game in South Africa in 1997 but went onto win the Test series. Don't forget we are playing these provincial games with New Zealand referees and in the Test series things might be different. 0941 BST: Mark, Bridgend
The blame for yesterday must lie with Woodward. The squad is too big and continues to expand, to allow for the fact that he cannot decide how he wishes to play the game. The Lions are being shaped in response to the NZ gameplay, rather than being shaped on their own strengths.
0921 BST: Chris Hunter, Auckland
As a Pom living in Auckland, I'd say don't despair at the Maori result. The Maori side are probably 90% as good as the full All Blacks side, with a lot of ex-ABs and the rest looking to prove themselves. A full Lions Test team would have beaten them, and thus stand on an even footing with the ABs proper.
0901 BST: Undercover Kiwi
It is a reflection of the current strength of New Zealand rugby that only three players from the New Zealand Maori side are in the 26-man squad for the Lions Series. Leon MacDonald, Rico Gear and Carl Hayman were guaranteed their places, but there was no reward for standout players Marty Holah, Luke McAlister and Corey Flynn. Even the inspirational Jono Gibbes missed out, although he is part of an extended squad and will be in camp with the side. How the Lions would love to have a Holah in their squad as they are continually being beaten at the breakdown. 0838 BST: Simon, Wellington
Dave, '10 Guitars' is a Maori party song. Whenever there is a party and it's a few beers in, out come the guitars. 10 Guitars is always top of the pops; always has been, always will be.
0809 BST: Simon, Auckland
'Ten Guitars' is the unofficial national anthem for a section of NZ society. Check out Waitangi Day.
0804 BST: Janne Turley, Auckland
I am trying to obtain the email address in NZ for the Barmy Army. Can you help? Thanks.
0730 BST: Ian Robertson, Radio Five Live
Sir Clive Woodward has picked what he probably believes to be is his first-choice back division for the game against Wellington. If they don't fire on all cylinders then we might as well all go home. It is very important that they win against Wellington, if they don't then we are in serious trouble. 0658 BST: Chris Lee, Auckland
Poor performance but hey, it only matters when the games are versus the AB's. Hopefully Woody and crew will get he combinations right in time for them!! Chins up all, Hamilton was rocking last night...made the defeat a little easier! Cheers Hamiltonians.
0625 BST: Gus, Australia
I must say that the Lions didn't look as if they were going to roar at all against the power of the Maori! The referee didn't seem to want to take his eyes off his mirror in his hand. Sir Clive needs to now focus on the injury count going into the first Test, as here in Australia in 2001, the provincial sides were instructed to injure the Lions, so as to make the job of winning the Test Series much easier!
0557 BST: Ian Lane, Brisbane
If it was not obvious before then surely it must be now after three very disappointing games. The Welsh team did not so much win the Grand Slam but everyone else lost it. They are woefully out of their depth in NZ and need replacing now.
0535 BST: Dave Spencer, Hamilton
Spent last night being constantly heckled by NZ supporters. A disappointing game, the Lions never really turned up. Having seen the team for Wednesday I think there's a good chance of a backlash. At least I hope so, so that these New Zealanders shut up!!
0427 BST: Joe, Hastings
Its Barmy Army madness over here now. I live in NZ, moved over eight months ago. The place is mental, you see millions of camper vans with their union jacks on the side, it's really funny. I'm taking so much grief from the NZers for the Lions, we should be dominating.
0415 BST: Scott King (ex Pom), Hamilton NZ
Has anyone noticed that in three attempts the Lions have yet to go in at half-time in front? Whilst fitness paid off in the first two games the fabulous Maori showed last night that a match-fit Kiwi team will put the Lions to the sword. Worryingly for Sir Clive, and sadly for Jono Gibbes and Marty Holah, very few of the Maori team have even made the ABs squad!! My respect goes to the Lions fans who were still in good spirits in the Hamilton bars after the match but I think the Lions will get spanked in the Tests.
0402 BST: Undercover Kiwi
It's back to the drawing board for Clive Woodward. In their two previous games, against essentially amateur provincial sides which hadn't played a lot of rugby this season, the Lions pulled away in the second half as the locals wilted. That may have disguised some shortcomings in the Lions' game that were exposed against New Zealand Maori. Saturday's opponents were mostly Super 12 players who are used to playing at a high tempo for 80 minutes. Unlike the provinces, they lasted the distance. In fact, it was the Lions who faded in the second stanza and they did well defensively to prevent being well beaten. New Zealand Maori fluffed a few scoring opportunities which the All Blacks, who showed their ruthless streak in hammering Fiji, will not miss. 0349 BST: Johno Whale, Shanghai
I think the Lions are building up to be a great team, their defence was magnificent under the huge pressure of the Maori attack. I think they will come into the Test series a different team.
0226 BST: Wyn Lewis, Fremantle, Western Australia
Was there a game plan? Not from where I was sitting. Please don't blame Jones, how can he play without the ball? Lions will not win by playing the old English game of rugby
0212 BST: Alex Jenkins, Whitechapel
Skulked into my office and then down to the basement's new media-wall at 7.30. Just me, SkyTV on an 8ft- wide TV with a Nigerian security guard smiling at the cunning plan. What a great way to start a weekend.
0134 BST: Dave Brammer, Manchester
On Wednesday in Taranaki and yesterday in Hamilton, a very minor Englebert Humperdinck song 'Ten Guitars' was played over the stadium tannoy during a break in play. Could anybody tell me what the song's connection is with NZ rugby?
