Scotland A 17-52 NZ Maori
Thomas Waldrom in action for NZ Maori
Waldrom scored two tries for the Maori on Saturday
Scotland A found themselves outclassed on Saturday as the New Zealand Maori regained the Churchill Cup in Canada.

The Maori, unable to defend their title last year when they were busy beating the British and Irish Lions in Hamilton, ran in seven tries.

Scotland's scores came from prop Alasdair Dickinson and replacement winger Nikki Walker.

It was a disappointing end for the Scots, who had beaten the England Saxons and Canada to reach the final.

The Maori's win confirmed a southern hemisphere rugby whitewash this weekend as New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and Argentina completed Test victories over Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales.

Scotland made a promising start with Dickinson getting over the line to help tie the scores at 7-7 after Thomas Waldrom's opening try for the Maori.

But New Zealand soon pulled away as prop Joe McDonnell added a second and number eight Liam Messam scored after a huge run from scrum-half Chris Smylie.

Scotland fly-half Calum MaCrae, having missed one penalty shot, reduced the half-time arrears to 24-10 but the Maori streaked clear after the interval.

Paul Tito picked off a perfect long pass from Callum Bruce and sent Waldrom over under the posts for his second score of the afternoon before Richard Kahui and Kristian Ormsby also touched down

Walker streaked over in the corner for Scotland's second score eight minutes from time, but the Maori simply responded in kind with Anthony Tahana completing the rout.
