Hodgson has 26 England caps |
England fly-half Charlie Hodgson says he wants to tour Australia this summer despite talk of resting key players. Hodgson missed England's Six Nations finale against Ireland with a hamstring injury and admits he found it difficult watching Andy Goode take his place.
"If you're playing well, you always want to be given the opportunity to play in an England shirt," he said.
"You don't want to give it to someone else easily so if I'm picked for Australia, I'd love to go."
Hodgson's stance underlines the view of captain Martin Corry, who feels it is "vital" England take the strongest squad available as they build towards next year's World Cup.
England coach Andy Robinson believes it is important some players are rested from the two-Test tour in June.
They face Australia in Sydney on 11 June and again in Melbourne six days later.
Hodgson, meanwhile, returned to training with his club Sale on Tuesday and hopes to be fit for Saturday's Premiership match at London Irish.
