Robinson is looking for his team to fire from the start on Sunday |
England coach Andy Robinson says Sunday's RBS Six Nations match away to France will give a good indication of how his team is developing. England travel to Paris on the back of a shock 18-12 defeat to Scotland.
"We should be able to win anywhere in the world and against any opposition," insisted Robinson.
"France, where we haven't won in six years, is an important place for us to make our mark, to show how well we have improved in the last couple of years."
France impressed in the November internationals but have struggled to hit their best form in the Six Nations so far, losing to the Scots and only performing at their best in patches against Ireland and Italy.
Robinson thinks the sheer volume of games their players have to take part in has contributed to their stuttering form.
"All these international matches are tough to win," said Robinson.
"They lost their first game against Scotland and they have played in fits and starts - they haven't put an 80-minute performance together.
"In saying that, I don't think their championship helps them with the amount of games they play.
"There is a cumulative effect - in the same way it affects us with the amount of matches that England players play."
With the 2007 World Cup less than 18 months away every international is assuming ever more importance.
England's reign as world champions has not been overly impressive but Robinson was adamant there would be no lack of belief when they run out at the Stade de France on Sunday.
"The confidence has always been there," he said.
"We are not playing Scotland, we are playing France and it's important that we fire straight away.
"The start, especially when you are playing away, is important, to get the scoreboard ticking over.
"We have a quality team and we will want to show that on Sunday."
