Scotland have recalled locks Scott Murray and Nathan Hines to their starting XV for Saturday's Six Nations visit to Ireland.

The experienced Murray was suspended for the victory over England after his sending-off against Wales in Cardiff.

Hines, meanwhile, impressed as a replacement against England on his return to the international fold.

The unfortunate Alastair Kellock drops to the bench, while Scott MacLeod loses his place in the squad altogether.

Glasgow hooker Scott Lawson replaces the injured Ross Ford among the replacements.

We have every right to be positive
Frank Hadden

Scotland head coach Frank Hadden said his need for calm heads away from Murrayfield prompted the return of Hines and Murray.

"We are playing against a team that we have not beaten at Lansdowne Road for eight years," Hadden underlined.

"The simple fact is that we will need our most experienced guys for what will be a massively difficult game.

"And they don't come more experienced that these two.

"Certain qualities are required for away matches like this and after very long discussions we decided that Scott and Nathan are the best combination for this particular task."

The Scots go to Dublin looking to make it three wins out of four in the tournament, having beaten France 20-16 at home and lost 28-18 to Wales in their opening two matches, before the remarkable 18-12 win over England.

And Hadden insisted confidence was running high in the Scots camp.

"The players have become more familiar with one another and they are not thinking 'where should I be?'

"They are now concentrating on the quality of execution using the simple tools they have been given - and depending on what they find in front of them.

"We have every right to be positive. We are not saying we will win - but we know we have a good chance.
