Scott MacLeod is promoted from the bench |
Scott MacLeod has been chosen ahead of Nathan Hines in Scotland's second row for the Six Nations meeting with England at Murrayfield on Saturday. MacLeod replaces the suspended Scott Murray, while Hines is on the bench after ending his self-imposed sabbatical from international rugby.
Dougie Hall, who played in the win over France, returns as hooker after being dropped for the defeat by Wales.
Fit-again Marcus Di Rollo replaces Ben MacDougall at outside centre.
Di Rollo has recovered from a hamstring injury that denied him a start at the Millennium Stadium.
Hines last played for Scotland in the Calcutta Cup last year before a fall-out with former national coach Matt Williams.
The Perpignan lock had been tipped for a start but is a replacement, with Border Reivers' MacLeod being promoted from the bench after Murray's red card against Wales.
Hall had played in the victory over France at Murrayfield but paid for criticism of Scotland's line-out.
But the Edinburgh Gunners hooker will start once more, with Scott Lawson omitted from the 22.
Scotland coach Frank Hadden said: "Once again, we have reflected long and hard over our choice at hooker.
"Ross Ford definitely announced himself on the stage last week and his is a star on the rise.
"Again, we have gone for horses for courses at hooker, with Dougie coming back.
"In the second-row, I have said all along that I was pleased with the competition.
"I did not consider bringing Nathan Hines straight into the starting line-up.
"Our team just now is a hard one to force your way into. There is no doubt, however, that Nathan can play a big role for us.
"Marcus has been running well in training and it is good to have him back."
