Murray apologised to Wales' Ian Gough after the incident |
Scotland lock Scott Murray has been suspended for three weeks following his sending off against Wales in the RBS Six Nations on Sunday. As a result, he will miss Scotland's next match against England at Murrayfield on 25 February.
Murray was sent off 22 minutes into his side's 28-18 defeat to Wales after reacting to a late tackle from Ian Gough by lashing out with his boot.
He will be unable to play for Scotland or his club Edinburgh before 6 March.
The 30-year-old Edinburgh forward will therefore be available for Scotland's game against Ireland at Lansdowne Road on 11 March.

Scottish Rugby and team coach Frank Hadden said they had presented "a very robust defence through team lawyer Bruce Caldow" to the disciplinary committee in London.
"We are disappointed that the committee concluded that the act was not accidental," said a statement.
"Until the written reasons are received from the discipline committee, we are not in a position to comment further on whether an appeal will be made."
Murray, who has 71 Scotland caps, has 48 hours from receipt of the written judgement within which to lodge an appeal.
The player said he has been overwhelmed by the support he has received from the rugby community throughout Britain and beyond.
"Special thanks to Ian Gough and the other Welsh players who expressed their support," he added.
The independent hearing decided that Murray had committed the offence of recklessly kicking his Welsh opponent.
A three-man committee of Paul Mauriac (France) and Dr Barry O'Driscoll and Peter Boyle (both Ireland) viewed video footage of the incident and listened to representations from the player, his legal advisor and Hadden.
