Carter injured his shoulder on Saturday |
New Zealand fly-half Dan Carter and inside centre Aaron Mauger are out of the third Test against the Lions because of injuries. Carter was the hero of the All Blacks' second Test win, scoring a record 33 points, but he injured his shoulder in the closing minutes of the 48-18 win.
Mauger went off in the first half after pulling a hamstring.
The All Blacks, who have already won the series 2-0, will announce their team for the final Test next week.
"We will get in replacements but it hasn't been decided yet until we contact the appropriate people and that will be done on Monday," said All Blacks assistant coach Steve Hansen.
"We've just taken the attitude of not risking anybody who is not 100% fit.
"We just have to accept that rugby is a physical game, especially at this level, and people are going to get injured.
"Up until now we've been pretty lucky but we just have to accept it and move on."
Hansen said both players would be fit for the Tri-Nations, which also involves South Africa and Australia.
The All Blacks' first game is against the Springboks in Cape Town on 6 August.
