Gavin Henson faces the media pack |
Lions centre Gavin Henson says he is over the groin injury that cut short his domestic season and is targeting the first tour game with Bay of Plenty. "The groin is 100%, better than it's felt all season, and I'm back in full training," said the Welshman, 23.
"I'm hoping to be selected for the first game in New Zealand (4 June).
"I'm not the best of watchers, but the draw with Argentina was a good occasion and the fans were awesome. We've learnt from that so there were positives."
Last month Henson claimed to have been "baffled" by the Lions team bonding sessions that included painting and role-playing exercises, but he has now been converted to the party line. | You don't get remembered if you don't play in the Tests |
"The excitement's building, it's just been really enjoyable in the camp, awesome to be here with all these great players and coaches and doing the training," he told BBC Sport. But the 16-cap man has retained his self confidence and individuality, sporting a new bright-red hair-do and insisting he is not on the trip to make up the numbers.
"I thought the hair would match the jersey, I always like to be a bit different and change things regularly," he said. "My objective is obviously to make the Test team and win the series. You don't get remembered if you don't play in the Tests."
