England Women ran in eight tries as they kicked off their southern hemisphere tour with a 53-0 victory over Samoa in Auckland on Saturday. Three early tries from Kim Shaylor, Sue Day and Charlotte Barras gave the tourists a comfortable early platform.
Shaylor completed her hat-trick with two more before half-time, despite some bone-crunching tackles from the highly physical Islanders.
Selena Rudge and Danielle Waterman, and Barras, added further tries late on.
Coach Geoff Richards said: "This win is a very good start to the tour - we played very well against a highly physical and strong outfit.
"Our tight five scrummaged well and there was some good flowing rugby coming from the backs. It was an impressive team performance all round."
England next face face an Invitational New Zealand XV on Wednesday before back-to-back Tests against reigning world champions the Black Ferns.
