Brian Ashton has been named England A coach for the game against their French counterparts in Bath on 11 February.

Ashton, backs coach for the full international side during Sir Clive Woodward's tenure, will be supported by John Wells and Jon Callard.

Wells is in charge at Leicester, while Callard is Leeds' first-team coach.

"This is a tremendous group of coaches to have in charge of the all-important England A game," said England head coach Andy Robinson.

"Those players not selected as part of the 30-man senior squad for our Wales game next week, will have the opportunity to impress the A team coaches and compete for a possible place against France."
