Vyvyan called into England squad
Hugh Vyvyan could win his first England cap
Hugh Vyvyan could win his first England cap
Saracens skipper Hugh Vyvyan has been called up to the England bench for Saturday's Test match against the Canadians at Twickenham.

The uncapped Vyvyan, 28, takes over from Gloucester flanker Andy Hazell, who has replaced Joe Worsley in the starting XV.

Worsley pulled out of the match on Tuesday because of a leg injury.

Vyvyan toured Argentina with England in 2002, and has played in a non-cap international against the Barbarians.

He also captained England's second string in two Churchill Cup campaigns in North America, and has been close to a full international cap for some time.

Vyvyan is one of three uncapped players on the bench, alongside Sale Sharks prop Andrew Sheridan and Newcastle Falcons scrum-half Hall Charlton.

Worsley picked up a dead leg playing for Wasps against Harlequins last Friday and with South Africa and Australia on the horizon Robinson is in no mood to risk the in-form back-rower against the less threatening Canadians.

There was better news for scrum-half Andy Gomarsall, who is expected to be fit to face Canada after battling with a back problem.

Harry Ellis, the third scrum-half in the England squad, should be fit in time for the next game against South Africa on 20 November.

That means World Cup winner Matt Dawson remains out in the cold.

But England will definitely be without hooker Mark Regan, who has quit the international scene after being ignored for the Canada game.

England team to face Canada:
Jason Robinson, (Sale Sharks - capt); Mark Cueto (Sale), Mike Tindall (Bath - vice captain), Henry Paul (Gloucester), Josh Lewsey (Wasps), Charlie Hodgson (Sale), Andy Gomarsall, (Gloucester); Graham Rowntree, (Leicester), Steve Thompson (Northampton), Julian White (Leicester), Danny Grewcock (Bath), Steve Borthwick (Bath), Lewis Moody (Leicester), Andy Hazell (Gloucester), Martin Corry (Leicester).
Replacements: Andy Titterrell (Sale), Andrew Sheridan (Sale), Ben Kay (Leicester), Hugh Vyvyan (Saracens), Hall Charlton (Newcastle), Will Greenwood (Harlequins), Ben Cohen (Northampton).
