All the latest action from Murrayfield.
80 mins: It's game over now. Scotland have some good space for a final assault but Southwell knocks forward a reasonable pass from Lamont.
79 mins: Parks chips to give Lamont the chance to chase towards the line. But he is blocked by Sailor. From the resulting line-out, Australia drive forward.
78 mins: Scotland win a penalty. After a brief consultation, they kick it for a line-out - bidding for a last try. The crowd are loving it.
76 mins: Australia have a great chance to round of their win in style but replacement Mark Chisholm, with virtually his first touch of the game, produces a dire knock-on. In the interim, Scotland captain Gordon Bulloch comes off the field.
74 mins: After a sustained period of pressure, Australia finally clear their lines thanks to a monster kick from Giteau.
71 mins: Justin Harrison goes a tad loopy and wrestles Donnie Macfadyen on the ground. His outburst concedes a penalty and the Scots kick to touch.
70 mins: The Scotland of the first half briefly reappears when Hines knocks on the ball under relatively little contact in the tackle. It lets a good attacking position go begging.
68 mins: The Australian backs are heavily under seige as Scotland's own runners charge forward with aplomb. A Parks chip nearly sends Lamont through... but not quite.
65 mins: Larkham hoists a big boot Scotland's way but Southwell hoofs it right back at him. The Scots have clearly been the side on top in this half. Nathan Hines, who's had a great game, is the latest Scot on the move.
62 mins: Giteau finally gets Australia's first points of the half with a penalty.
Scotland 14-31 Australia
60 mins: Southwell puts another kick out on the full and then drops an easy chance in his 22 to concede a dangerous scrum.
57 mins: Southwell goes for a little chip to the corner to break up Australia's defence. But it goes out on the full, much to the annoyance of his team-mates.
54 mins: Scotland are now tackling with a ferocity that was missing in the first half. There is a brief respite from their defence as Wendell Sailor comes on as a blood replacement for Rathbone.
51 mins: Australia struggle to force their way through a now resolute Scottish defence. In a bid to shake things up he kicks for touch to put the Scots under some pressure. Meanwhile, Alastair Kellock wins his first cap.
50 mins: Scotland once again keep it in the forwards as they encroach on Australia's try line. The ploy works again as they distribute it down the back line. Southwell is the man that grounds it despite Mortlock's bid to rip it off him. Paterson converts the score.
Scotland 14-28 Australia
48 mins: Scotland are showing the sort of adventure they produced in the opening 10 minutes of the match. Their lines of running are far more accurate. Hugo Southwell, on at half-time, fails to make the line but wins a line-out.
47 mins: Bulloch produces a howler of a throw that was by no means straight. The Scots then quickly loose possession.
44 mins: Scotland get the crowd out of their seats as their forwards show superior drive. As they edge ever nearer, Sean Lamont pounces at the back for a try. Paterson then cuts the lead to 21 points.
Scotland 7-28 Australia
41 mins: Dan Parks gets the second half under way. But it's a poor start as the ball goes straight out. Scotland have made a few changes, among them Jon Petrie replacing Scott Gray.
40 mins: Australia have a late attack in the half courtesy of a penalty. Captain George Gregan, in his 103rd Test, opts for the scrum. A Larkham error allows Scotland to counter attack but not with enough venom to make a difference before half-time.
38 mins: Both sides look happy to play out the remainder of the half. Scotland will need an inspirational team talk from coach Matt Williams to turn things around.
34 mins: Larkham finds himself clear after hoofing the ball forward. He kicks ahead and gathers before sliding over the line. It takes a fair few replays before the television referee turns it down, judging Nathan Hines to have stopped him from grounding it. A lucky escape.
33 mins: Scotland are struggling now even with their basics. Allan Jacobsen lets an easy line-out ball slip right through his hands.
30 mins: Australia's running rugby is more reminiscent of a practice session so lacking is the contact from Scotland. Pass after pass flicks from left to right for Australia and Lote Tuqiri does the honours this time. You get the feeling it won't be his only try of the match. Giteau unleashes another great spot kick.
Scotland 0-28 Australia
27 mins: In almost a carbon copy of his first try, Rathbone again slides in with ease. Slick passing as well as good movement off the ball give him all the space he needs. Giteau makes his conversion.
Scotland 0-21 Australia
25 mins: The wet conditions are not helping the contest as the odd knock-on starts creeping in.
24 mins: Scotland get a chance to regroup with a penalty, with Australian punished for some wandering hands on the floor in a ruck.
20 mins: Australia's passing is so rapid it leaves the Scots totally hypnotised. The man to profit this time as it wings its way down the backline is Rathbone, who lets the damp grass help him slide in. Giteau adds two more points.
Scotland 0-14 Australia
16 mins: Australia are finding plentiful room in which to roam now. Giteau is the latest runner to find himself unopposed for a 20-yard burst.
13 mins: As if from nowhere, Australia move into the lead. Rathbone glides past Scottish defenders, arcs his back to dodge his tackler and then sends Stirling Mortlock through to seal the final glory. Giteau converts under the uprights.
Scotland 0-7 Australia
11 mins: Scotland make a mockery of the Australian pack, albeit briefly. Deep in their 22, they drive the forward threat out.

9 mins: Matt Giteau finally kicks Australia out of their own half.
6 mins: Surprisingly, Scotland look the form team so far. They gain a penalty, Chris Paterson tees it up... but scuffs the simplest of chances.

2 mins: The first line-out of the afternoon goes Australia's way. But the Aussies knock forward moments later following some solid Scottish pressure. An attacking line-out is their reward for the early promise.
1734 GMT: Stephen Larkham gets the action going as the smoke from the pre-match firework display begins to clear.
Scotland are moments away from launching their bid for a first win over Australia since 1982.
