Wales coach Mike Ruddock says the side he has picked to face South Africa is based on three main criteria. "Firstly we have identified the form players in Welsh rugby in the likes of Ryan Jones and Steve Jones," he said.
"We have also trued to achieve the right blend of talent that will be effective against South Africa.
"And we have attempted to create a team and squad that will help to take Wales forward for this seasons Six Nations Championship and beyond."
Ruddock feels his side's heavy defeat by the Springboks in June has little bearing on this game, considering the difference between that side and the team he has selected.
"We're very confident with this selection. It is obviously a much stronger team," he added.

"It's great to have a number of players available who missed the summer tour through injury.
"This team has a nice balance of proven performers from the World Cup and the last Six Nations, together with up-and-coming players such as Ryan, who now has the opportunity to establish himself as an international player."
And Ruddock hopes his preparations for the visit of the Tri-Nations champions will give Wales the edge.
"We have analysed their game closely, and we intend to implement our game plan precisely," he said.
"Their size, and the physical nature of their defence and ball-carrying, will test us severely.
"But the return of our injured players, and the support from a passionate home crowd, should allow us to play with skill, determination and courage."
