Australia have recalled hooker Jeremy Paul as one of three changes to their side to face Scotland in the opening match of their four-Test European tour. Paul is preferred to Brendan Cannon with John Roe starting at number eight ahead of David Lyons.
The other change sees Dan Vickerman starting at lock in the absence of the injured Nathan Sharpe.
Wing Clyde Rathbone has been named in an unchanged backline after recovering from a chest infection.
"Jeremy Paul and John Roe played off the bench for most of the Tri-Nations but have shown they're worthy of a starting spot during training since," said Australia coach Eddie Jones.
"Jeremy had been behind Brendan Cannon for a fair while now but has addressed a number of issues he had in his game.
"He's the sort of hooker that suits our style of play. He's a good ball runner and a strong defender. "Dan Vickerman also deserves his opportunity in the second row."
Prop Nic Henderson and back Mark Gerrard were both unavailable with rib and hamstring injuries respectively.
Mat Rogers and Elton Flatley have to settle for places among the replacements on their returns after injury.
"There were a number of positions that were closely contested," Jones added.
"With only Nic and Mark unavailable of the squad of 28, we really did have 26 guys competing for 22 spots."
Rathbone, who made his Test debut against Scotland in Melbourne earlier this year, is relishing another opportunity to take on the Scots.
"I'm really looking forward to going out and performing well this weekend," he said.
"We've come over here to play an attacking style and that is pretty exciting for the outside backs especially. We are all really looking forward to that opportunity."
