Quinlan was injured during the World Cup |
Munster flanker Alan Quinlan has been added to the Ireland squad for the upcoming Autumn internationals. Quinlan comes in as a precautionary measure for Leinster's Victor Costello who is suffering rib damage received in the Heineken Cup tie against Bath.
Out of Ireland's opening game against South Africa on 13 November is Leinster centre Gordon D'Arcy.
A scan has revealed that D'Arcy sustained a groin injury but there are fears he could be out in Christmas.
Meanwhile, Costello was only called into the squad on Monday along with Ulster number eight Roger Wilson.
Quinlan has slowly fought his way back from an injury sustained against Argentina in the World Cup 12 months ago.
Eric Miller, John Kelly and Gavin Duffy have also been added to the Ireland squad.
O'Sullivan will name a squad of 22 to face the Springboks on Wednesday.
Ireland also face the USA on 20 November and Argentina a week later.
