Newcastle's Hugh Vyvyan will captain an England XV against the Barbarians at Twickenham on Sunday. The Falcons skipper, who was unlucky to miss out on a place on the full England tour to Australasia, will join up with team-mates Dave Walder and Jamie Noon.
Gloucester wing Marcel Garvey is given his first start in an England shirt alongside Mark Cornwell, Alex Brown and Andy Hazell.
England U-21 captain Clive Stuart-Smith was not considered because of injury.
Jason Leonard and Mark Andrews will play the last matches of their illustrious careers after being named in the Barbarians side.
Leonard, 35, is the most capped player of all time with 114 England appearances and is sure to receive a rousing reception at Twickenham.
Andrews won 77 caps for South Africa and is regarded as one of the finest forwards of the modern era.
Former All Black hooker Anton Oliver will skipper the Barbarians.
England coach Sir Clive Woodward insists he is excited by the prospect of fielding a team with just a single member of England's World Cup squad - Mark Regan - against a side full of internationals.
"We picked Mark because we wanted a bit of experience. But I think this is an excellent side," he said.

"We've just had a run-out and everyone who is coming to Twickenham should see a spectacular game. "This is a huge chance for all the players involved. It's our job to make sure they get every opportunity to do their best."
London Irish's Michael Horak and Paul Sackey and Gloucester paceman Garvey will make up the back three and Woodward is expecting fireworks from the trio.
"Horak played against Argentina for us but he was slipped down the pecking order recently. But he's an outstanding player," he said.
"Sackey is also special and I'm looking forward to seeing him and Marcel Garvey on the flank.
"These guys have to take their chance. It will be a full house at Twickenham and the match will be live on TV. All three are in the side on merit and pushing very hard for further recognition."
