Woodward has picked five Newcastle players |
England coach Sir Clive Woodward has named a 26-man squad to face the Barbarians next Sunday at Twickenham. Woodward has not picked any players from Bath and Wasps, with both teams competing in Saturday's Zurich Premiership final.
Mark Regan is the only member of the squad going to New Zealand and Australia this summer to be included in the squad for Sunday's game.
England will trim the squad down to 22 players on Wednesday.
"In selecting the side to play the Barbarians I have not, apart from Mark Regan, chosen players going on the summer tour," said Woodward.
"This offers many of the Churchill Cup players a huge opportunity to impress, such as Hugh Vyvyan, Dan Scarbrough and Jamie Noon.
"Players such as Clive Stuart-Smith and Marcel Garvey, who are taking part in the Under 21 World Championship next month, will also have a chance to step up to the mark."
Woodward initially named a 25-man squad, with Northampton flanker Darren Fox added to the party on Monday afternoon.
