McBryde missed two Six Nations games this season with injury |
Scarlets forwards Robin McBryde and Dafydd Jones are the latest to be rated as doubtful for Wales' summer tours. Both have shoulder problems and have been told to miss Friday's Celtic League home match against Leinster.
"It was best to rest both players for this game, though we know that Robin will need an operation at the end of the season," said coach Nigel Davies.
"That will correct the problem, but it will probably rule him out of the summer tour."
Jones, who has played in all but one of Wales' last 15 Test matches, believes a period of rest rather than surgery should be sufficient to cure his long-standing injury.
"I've had a problem with the AC joint in my shoulder since the World Cup and it was inevitable that it would worsen over the last few matches," Jones told the Western Mail newspaper.
"It is not causing me a great deal of pain but is restrictive. I took another bump on it on Friday which has limited my training this week and now it's just a case of giving it some time top settle down."
Despite the pair's injury concern, both are likely to play again for the Scarlets this season as they go for the Celtic League title.
With four games to go, only points difference separates from current leaders Ulster. Wales play back-to-back Tests against the Pumas in Buenos Aires on 12 and 19 June, before travelling to face the Springboks in Pretoria on 26 June.
But new coach Mike Ruddock has already suffered a major blow to his plans with news that Warriors lock Robert Sidoli will probably forced to stay at home with a pelvic problem.
