Boks start Cup countdown
Springbok winger Breyton Paulse
Paulse will play for the Cheetahs in one of the games
Springbok coach Rudolf Straeuli will give almost his entire squad a run-out in their two remaining World Cup warm-up games against South African provincial sides.

Straeuli hopes the games will help prepare his side for the vital World Cup pool match with England on 18 October in Perth, Australia.

The Springboks play the Free State Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on Tuesday 16 September, in the first warm-up game, and meet the Gauteng Falcons in Springs, near Johannesburg, on 23 September.

"We have done a lot of planning around the World Cup and obviously we have certain ideas on the kind of combinations that we should be playing against England," the Springbok coach told the South African news agency Sapa.

"Of importance at the moment is using these two warm-up games to give each of the 30 squad members sufficient game time.

"Over the past few weeks we have been hard at work on our fitness and conditioning and it is now vital that we test the squad under match conditions.

"Once these two warm-up games are over we will be better placed to refine our selections for the opening two games of the World Cup, against Uruguay on 11 October and England on the 18th."

In order to give all players some game-time, three Springboks - wingers Breyton Paulse and Stefan Terblanche and full-back Ricardo Loubscher - will be included on the Cheetahs' bench and will get a run during the match.

Only hooker Danie Coetzee, rested after playing all the Tests this season, and lock Bakkies Botha, currently under suspension, will not be involved.

South African team v Cheetahs: Werner Greeff; Ashwin Willemse, Jorrie Muller, Gcobani Bobo, Thinus Delport; Louis Koen, Joost van der Westhuizen; Juan Smith, Joe van Niekerk, Corne Krige (capt); Victor Matfield, Selborne Boome; Richard Bands, John Smit, Christo Bezuidenhout.
