| Thursday, 5 December, 2002, 11:09 GMT Wilkinson revels in fitness battle
The fly-half will undergo a scan on Thursday on the shoulder he injured during England's brutal win over South Africa last month. "I have been training really hard," Wilkinson told BBC Sport Online. "It has been quite good. I do enjoy getting the chance to have a blast.
"It is like a mini pre-season again. I am getting really fit again so I feel like I am at my peak. "I have been doing a lot of bike work, because unfortunately my shoulder jars if I do any running. "Because I am getting back into it, I have been feeling pretty sick for a lot of it. "I have been working very, very hard, and I have felt a bit dodgy, which is great. "That is exactly what I want, because it means I am getting back to new levels of fitness again, so I am pleased about that." Wilkinson admits he will have to contain his enthusiasm for training to ensure he does not undergo an extended absence. "It is a textbook A/C joint injury apparently, so it is just a case of being completely professional about it," he added prior to his scan. "It is definitely not right yet, and it will be probably be another week or two before I can get back to full training. "It is a case of biding my time so I don't jump the gun, and not try to do too much, too early. "Otherwise, what will be four weeks of frustration could turn into eight or 10 weeks." | See also: 02 Dec 02 | International 26 Nov 02 | International 26 Nov 02 | International Top International stories now: Links to more International stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
