80 mins (+3): Scotland survive late South African pressure to hold on for a famous victory.

80 mins: David Hilton replaces Tom Smith to win his 42nd cap, an emotional moment following his two-year ban from international rugby after it was found that his grandfather was not born in Scotland. Hilton now qualifies on residency grounds.

74 mins: South African replacement Andr� Pretorius is caught behind his own line by Redpath. The ball flies out the Springbok's grasp and Walker is given the try after what appears to be the slightest of touches. But Laney misses the conversion attempt.

72 mins: A high kick by Gregor Townsend, who had replaced Ross, is dropped by Greef. Laney sends the ball out to Walker. But, with the try line beckoning, the Scot dropped the ball.

65 mins: Laney attempts a penalty from just inside the South African half but curls his attempted kick wide.

62 mins: Johannes Conradie breaks clear, but his pass just fails to find the hand of Pierre Uys.

58 mins: South Africa are caught offside as their maul is put under pressure. But Laney's penalty attempt from the left touchline goes just wide.

55 mins: Laney slices a drop-goal attempt after a sweeping Scottish move.

49 mins: Budge Pountney is adjudged to have grounded the ball for a try after constant pressure on the South African line. Referee Nigel Williams consulted television evidence. Laney converts from wide on the left.

45 mins: Paterson charges down a kick by Werner Greeff, but the Scot is caught on the break by Paulse. Andy Craig takes the ball further but is knocked into touch by Robbie Fleck.

44 mins: Paterson catches Paulse after a massive kick out of defence by Ross and concedes the penalty by not releasing the ball. Laney sends his kick between the posts to restore Scotland's lead.

40 mins (+3): Laney misses an easy kick in front of the posts after the Springboks conceded a penalty in the maul.

40 mins (+2): Scotland have abandoned their kicking game. But, despite constant attacks, they are unable to break through the South African defence.

34 mins: South Africa make their one stone per man advantage tell in the maul as they win a penalty pushing towards the Scottish line. James slots the kick between the posts.

31 mins: James slots home a penalty after the first spell of South African pressure.

29 mins: Butch James charges down an attempted Ross clearance inside his own 22, but the ball is cleared to safety by the Scots.

26 mins: Laney just fails to touch the ball down before it goes out of play after a kick behind the South African line.

23 mins: New Scotland full-back Stuart Moffat drops a high ball, but Breyton Paulse is penalised for the use of the boot in the maul to end a dangerous attack by South Africa.

21 mins: Martin Leslie lets the ball slip from his grasp at the end of sweeping, cross-field move near the South African line.

19 mins: An attempted drop goal from Ross goes just wide of the posts.

16 mins: Scotland are camped in the Springbok half, thanks to excellent kickign for touch by Laney, Bryan Redpath and Gordon Ross.

7 mins: South Africa concede another penalty for collapsing the maul and Laney's kick just makes it between the posts.

2 mins: Brendan Laney gives Scotland the lead, slotting the penalty home from in front of the posts.

Kick-off 1432 GMT: South Africa kick off in wet and windy conditions and immediately Scotland win a free kick, push into the opposing half and win a penalty.

Scotland are searching for their first win against the Springboks in 33 years, having lost four times since 1969.

Home coach Ian McGeechan has named the same side that brushed Romania aside 37-10 last weekend but will be looking for a better performance against tougher opposition.

The visitors make sweeping changes after losing to France 30-10 and will be looking to repair damaged national pride.
