Regan hoping for Bath future
England hooker Mark Regan in Argentina
Regan has not given up hope of a future at Bath
England hooker Mark Regan is hoping the return of Jack Rowell will prolong his Bath career, despite being told to look for another club.

The 30-year-old is currently touring Argentina with England and will be a replacement when they take on the Pumas at Velez Sarsfield on Saturday.

There are a few clubs who have expressed an interest

Regan has two years remaining on his contract at Bath, but he has been told he is surplus to requirements following the arrival of former Wales captain Jonathan Humphreys.

With the Recreation Ground club also boasting hookers Andy Long and Lee Mears, Regan faces a tough task in persuading management to change their mind.

But he is hopeful the appointment of Rowell as director of rugby will help his cause.

"I've worked well with Jack in the past - he is someone I can talk to," Regan said. "He gave me my first England cap in 1995 and I will go back and talk to him.

"Jack will make his own decision. If he says that I have got to go, then I will go.

"There are a few clubs who have expressed an interest, but I have two years left on my existing Bath contract and I am happy to stay at the club."

The decision to let him go was taken before Rowell's appointment and Regan admitted it had left him "disappointed and gobsmacked".
