The Maori ran in seven tries against a Waratahs outfit missing half-a-dozen Wallabies including Matt Burke and David Lyons. Full-back Willie Walker, making his Maori debut, and wing Joe Maddock each notched a brace of tries to lift the touring side. Confidence Their previous match against Queensland ended in a 28-25 defeat, but four second-half tries boosted the confidence ahead of their Wallabies date in Perth. NSW led 13-5 midway through the first half helped by a try from lock Van Humphries, but Walker's double and Maddock's first score saw the Maori take a 19-13 interval lead. A try from Waratahs captain Steve Talbot closed the gap to 24-18 with 16 minutes left. But with fly-half Carlos Spencer calling the shots, the Maori managed further tries from flanker Blair Urlich, Maddock, scrum-half Brendon Haami and replacement hooker Cory Flynn. | See also: 09 Jun 02 | International 08 Jun 02 | International 06 Jun 02 | International 04 Jun 02 | International Top International stories now: Links to more International stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
