Ulster kick-off at Northampton
Ulster captain Andy Ward hopes to lead his team to success in Europe
Skipper Andy Ward will lead Ulster against Cardiff

Ulster will begin their 2002-03 Heineken Cup campaign with a trip to Northampton who won the competition two years ago.

The province's first home game at Ravenhill will be against Cardiff, followed by another home match against French champions Biarritz.

Munster, who lost last season's final to Leicester 15-9 at the Millennium Stadium, open their Pool Two campaign away to Gloucester.

Round One - To be played 11, 12, and 13 October

Pool 2: Gloucester v Munster, Perpignan v Viadana
