Lamb joined London Irish following his release from Gloucester in 2009
Ryan Lamb kicked 13 points against former club Gloucester as London Irish moved second in the Premiership.
After Lamb and Nicky Robinson traded penalties, Declan Danaher fed James Buckland for the hooker to cross and give the Exiles a 10-3 advantage.
Two more Robinson penalties either side of half-time cut the lead, before Lamb added two place-kicks of his own.
George Stowers took Dan Bowden's pass to put Irish out of sight, before Lesley Vainikolo's consolation try.
The ease of the the victory leaves Irish, who lie three points behind leaders Northampton, looking like play-off contenders, while Gloucester seem to be facing a long, hard winter.
The visitors included 12 internationals in their starting line-up, but lacked tactical nous behind the scrum and were too often bullied by the home pack.
After the early exchange of penalties, Irish took the lead midway through the first half when some precision passing stretched the Gloucester backs allowing Danaher to feed Buckland.
Lamb converted but, although Gloucester continued to concede territory, Robinson cut the lead and the visitors could have gone in front before the break when hooker Scott Lawson took the scrum ball against the head.
Robinson reduced the deficit to a single point after the interval, but this jolted Irish into life as, under pressure, Gloucester's discipline let them down and Lamb was afforded two penalties.
Knowing another score would probably secure the win, Irish stepped up a gear in the final quarter of the game and were rewarded with a second try.
Seilala Mapusua stormed into Gloucester territory and, when quick ball was fired out to winger Jonathan Joseph, he found an unmarked Stowers, who blasted through.
Lamb added the extras but, surprisingly, Vainikolo went over in injury time to earn Gloucester a bonus point.
Gloucester head coach Bryan Redpath told BBC Radio Gloucestershire: "I thought we had two defensive errors in both of their tries. We could have made them harder to score.
"We need to be harder on ourselves and I won't hide from some of the basic stuff we've done wrong.
"Some of our decisions along the way need to be better and smarter. The basics of the game are letting us down."
