Leicester ran out emphatic winners over bottom club Leeds Carnegie with 33 unanswered points in the second half.

England fly-half Toby Flood starred on his return for the Tigers after six months on the sidelines following surgery on a ruptured left Achilles.

He notched 17 points before being substituted after the half-time break.

Leicester's England flanker Tom Croft went off with a leg injury just before half-time but five tries followed in a one-sided second half.

Leeds led early on through two Joe Ford penalties, and the Tigers had Lewis Moody sin-binned as a scrappy first half ended level at 6-6.

But the hosts surged ahead after the break, with a penalty try awarded after Callum Clark followed Moody to the sin-bin.

Four tries followed from Anthony Allen, Brett Deacon, Flood and Moody.

England flanker Moody's score was the pick of the bunch as he broke away from a ruck 45 metres out and outpaced the Leeds defence to the line.

Leicester backs coach Matt O'Connor:

"He [Flood] had a great game and is over that injury.

"He is a world-class number 10 and England will have a tough decision to make. I'd pick him, but I'm biased.

"We were quite confident that it was only a matter of time and when we scored two tries early in the second half our confidence was lifted."

Leeds Carnegie director of rugby Andy Key:
"We did well to be 6-6 at half time but had to defend really hard and it took a lot out of the boys.

"We had a bad start to the second half, didn't put a name on the restart kick and we lost all control of the game.

"I've had a look at the slow motion replay and I couldn't see anything wrong [regarding Leicester's crucial penalty try after 43 minutes].

"It seems that it may have been awarded more on the first half rather than that particular scrum."
