Morgan hopeful of quick recovery

Morgan has scored 19 tries in 78 games for Gloucester

Gloucester full-back Olly Morgan hopes to be fit to play in the Premiership game away to Saracens on Sunday.

Morgan went off at half time in the 27-14 home defeat to Northampton which leaves Gloucester ninth in the table.

He told BBC Radio Gloucestershire: "It was disappointing because of the other injuries I've had. I'm having a scan but the physio is quite confident."

"The dead leg I had in pre-season meant there had been a lack of conditioning and the hamstring wasn't quite ready."

Morgan has played all his rugby for Gloucester since leaving Millfield School, and has played twice at full international level for England.

His catalogue of injuries included one to his shoulder at Croke Park against Ireland, since when Delon Armitage has established himself as England full back.

Now, with Armitage himself sidelined, Morgan knows he is in the frame, but only if he is fit and playing well.

"Rugby is an up and down sport. I've lost count of the number of injuries I've had but when you get knocked down you want to get up again," he said.

"The door to England has been closed for a while with Delon playing so well but getting in won't be an easy ride with Foden, Abendenon and Monye.

"I've been playing as a full back since I was 16 so hopefully I'll stick with what I know and it'll come good."
