Nottingham swoop for prop Buxton

Nottingham Rugby Club

Nottingham Rugby Club have signed experienced forward Ben Buxton from Championship rivals Moseley.

The ex-Leicester Tigers prop, 29, has been with Moseley for eight years and director of rugby Glenn Delaney said it was a much-needed signing.

"We were a bit short in the front row department so this is a great signing," Delaney explained.

"I've had my eye on getting a new prop for a while now and Ben is someone with a lot of experience."

Delaney added: "We've gone from being a bit thin to having strength in depth in the front row now, which is exactly what we need."

Buxton made his debut on Tuesday night in the 55-7 defeat against Guinness Premiership side Saracens at Vicarage Road.

He is expected to play in the Green and Whites' last pre-season fixture against Northampton Saints on Saturday.

Nottingham kick off their league campaign against Cornish Pirates at Meadow Lane on September 6.
