Crane praises coach Cockerill

Leicester forward Jordan Crane hailed the Tigers' team effort as he scored the try to win the Guinness Premiership title at Twickenham.

Crane was the only player to cross the line as Tigers beat London Irish 10-9 on Saturday to claim their sixth Premiership title in 11 years.

The England cap, 22, said: "It's always good to win and be the match winner - it was a massive team effort.

"They way they held out when I was in the sin bin was credit to the boys."

Julien Dupuy's penalty had cancelled out Peter Hewat's early drop-goal to leave the sides level at 3-3 at half-time.

Delon Armitage landed a penalty for Irish on the resumption but Crane's converted try grabbed the lead.

Another Armitage penalty from halfway closed the gap to one point with eight minutes left, but the Tigers held out to triumph.

Crane added: "The signs of a good team are ones that can win when not playing so well. They way we ground that one out was awesome."
