Taylor keen to keep Foxes place

Taylor has scored two centuries for Leicestershire this season

Leicestershire batsman James Taylor is eager to continue his successful start to the season.

Taylor scored a century at Middlesex to save them in the County Championship, and then hit his maiden one-day ton in the FP Trophy victory at Worcester.

The 19-year-old told BBC Radio Leicester: "It's going well for me at the moment. I just need to keep scoring as many runs as I can to keep my place.

"I hope I can establish my place in the side and keep doing well with the bat."

Leicestershire's last two matches in the Friends Provident Trophy were rained off meaning they can not now qualify for the quarter-final stage.

The Foxes' final game in the competition is on Tuesday as local rivals Nottinghamshire visit Grace Road.

Taylor added: "We feel like we're playing well. We had a good result against Worcester, but unfortunately there was no play (in the last two matches).

"Hopefully against Notts we can play well and carry our good form through to that."
