Royle has scored five tries in 72 appearances for Fylde |
Fylde winger Nick Royle is set to make his competitive debut for Sale Sharks in the EDF Energy Cup tie against Cardiff Blues on Saturday. It is thought to be the first time a National Clubs Association member has loaned one of its contracted players to a Premiership side. "He's been one of the stars of the side," Fylde director of rugby Mark Nelson told BBC Radio Lancashire. "We always want to promote players to get to the highest level." Royle, along with team-mate Oliver Brennand, follow a long line of experienced wingers to have played for Fylde. They include former England internationals Tony Richards, Simon Smith and rugby league legend Mark Preston. And Nelson is confident Royle can progress further through the ranks. "We're all very proud of Nick and his achievements. "It's also good for the system we have at the club that we can produce players of that calibre."
