Nottingham seek Doncaster revenge

Glenn Delaney
Delaney thinks his side can beat Doncaster for the first time at home

Nottingham will be hoping to secure their first win over Doncaster in nearly three years this Sunday.

The Knights visit Meadow Lane as the only side other than champions Northampton to do the league double over Nottingham last season.

"Doncaster were probably the only team to really beat us last season," said director of rugby Glenn Delaney.

"By that I mean that it wasn't our errors that cost us the game. It'll be a good marker of how far we have come."

Nottingham go into the weekend's match looking to continue their unbeaten record at Meadow Lane, which stretches back to last November.

"We are very proud of our home record and Meadow Lane has become a fortress for us but Sunday will be a big test," Delaney continued.

If we can control the tempo of the game then I am sure we can beat them

Nottingham captain Craig Hammond

"If we win on Sunday it will be our best start to a league season ever and I suppose that is something to aim for but more importantly I will be asking the team to keep continuing the improvements in performance as that will ultimately keep us winning."

Both Nottingham and Doncaster have won four out of their opening five matches this season, but an extra try bonus point for the Green and Whites sees them sitting two league positions above their opponents.

Nottingham captain Craig Hammond believes the fixture will give the team a real idea of how their season will unfold.

"The game will be a big marker on how the rest of the season will pan out but we are confident," he said.

"If we can control the tempo of the game then I am sure we can beat them, we certainly owe them one."
