Notts County showed no mercy as they beat beleaguered Port Vale.
Jamie Forrester headed County ahead after six minutes when Delroy Facey got on the end of Matt Hamshaw's cross to set him up.
A string of fine saves from Joe Anyon kept Vale in contention before their young defender Luke Prosser equalised three minutes after the break.
County responded and regained the lead when Myles Weston squeezed a powerful shot inside Anyon's near post.
Port Vale caretaker manager Dean Glover told BBC Radio Stoke:"We gave silly goals away, we have to play with more confidence, especially at the start of games."
"We've got to take a look at ourselves and try and play with more belief."
"We need to get the ball down and try and cut out the basic errors."
