Harris settling into Notts life

Nottingham's new prop Robbie Harris is settling into his new life in the UK.

The 26-year-old signed from Natal Sharks in South Africa last week, and was thrown straight into the squad for Saturday's win over Esher.

He told BBC Radio Nottingham: "I'm just finding my feet still and am looking for a place to stay still.

"[They are a] nice bunch of guys, I've just got to get to know everyone a bit better, otherwise I think it's going to be fantastic."

Harris made 16 appearances for the Sharks before making the move north to Nottingham, and he admits he was caught unaware by the conditions in his new home.

"The weather's completely different! I'm used to a good 38 degrees, sunshine, beach - now I come here, and apparently this is your summer. It's just a change, something to get used to. It seems to be nice, I've just got to adapt, that's all."

And although he will have to get used to the colder climate, Harris knows the weather will have its perks for him on the pitch.

"The playing conditions are a lot more suited for me I think, and its a lot slower a game than back home so I think it's a lot nicer."

Harris made his Nottingham debut on Saturday in the 25-3 win away at Esher, but uncontested scrums were in operation by the time he replaced Nigel Hall, meaning he was unable to show his prowess in the pack.

He has not yet had a chance to play at Meadow Lane, although since director of rugby Glenn Delaney showed him around the ground last Thursday, he cannot wait to run out in front of a home crowd.

"It's fantastic - a nice stadium, nice ground. I'm very, very impressed with that."

The prop forward comes into the Green & Whites squad after two games of the new campaign, and not having the time to settle in before the season starts was difficult for him.

"It does make it harder because you miss out the whole pre-season, getting involved with all the guys. They've done a lot of hard work, it's a good bunch of guys - strong as well - and it's just basically adapting and fitting in with everyone."
