Leicester Tigers fly-half Andy Goode became the highest scorer in Guinness Premiership history as his side brushed aside Saracens at Welford Road. Goode surpassed Jonny Wilkinson's previous record of 1,413 points as he kicked 21 of Leicester's 36 points. The home side trailed 13-9 at the break as Saracens' Dan Scarborough went over for the only try of the half. Tigers hit back in the second half with tries from Seru Rabeni, Alesana Tuilagi and Tom Varndell sealing the win. Saracens back-rower Kris Chesney also put his name in the history books with his 194th Premiership appearance, taking him above Simon Shaw and Neal Hatley on the list of record appearance-makers. Leicester head coach Marcelo Loffreda:
"It was very important to win. We were really frustrated after last week's game at Worcester and this gives us some momentum and confidence to take into next week's game. "We will have to improve, but this is a step in the right direction. "Andy Goode improved a lot from last week. He kept his concentration. I'm pleased with all the players because it was a very tough game." Saracens director of rugby Alan Gaffney:
"We were very good with ball in hand, but we didn't get ball in hand long enough. I think we had the ball once in the first 20 minutes of the second half. "Leicester were on the front foot and they are hard to deal with when they are on the front foot. Leicester were very, very good and then we fought back. We got it back to 26-23 and were definitely back in it. "But we conceded a penalty and made a horrendous error. I thought we deserved a point at the end. The lads showed a lot of courage and commitment."
