Bristol sign ex-All Black Blowers
Andrew Blowers
Loose forward Blowers joins Bristol from Auckland NPC
Premiership contenders Bristol have announced the signing of former All Blacks back-row forward Andrew Blowers.

The 31-year-old, who spent five years with Northampton, was to have joined Bristol for the start of next season.

But with number eight Dan Ward-Smith out with a serious knee injury, Blowers has brought forward his arrival.

"His pedigree speaks for itself. He's in great shape, and I'm really looking forward to him joining us," said Bristol coach Richard Hill.

"We have negotiated an early release for him from New Zealand, and given the nature of our season, he is keen to come over and play his part as soon as possible."

Blowers, who will be available for selection against Wasps on 4 March, played for Auckland NPC side in 2006.

He made his Test debut for New Zealand against South Africa in 1996 and went on to make 11 international appearances, his last against Italy in Huddersfield at the age of 24 in 1999.

He moved to England at the start of the 2000/2001 season and proved one of Northampton's most successful signings in the professional era.
