Charvis, 33, has hinted he may now retire |
International forwards Colin Charvis and Stuart Grimes will not be at Newcastle Falcons next season. Wales back-rower Charvis was at the club for two seasons and captained the side last season, and Scottish lock Grimes was at the club for six years.
"We thank Colin and Stuart for their time with us, and wish them both well for the future," said coach Rob Andrew.
Matt Burke, who has scored 21 tries in 48 starts in an impressive season at full-back, will be the new captain.
Fellow senior players Owen Finegan and Dave Walder had already been released by the Falcons.
The Falcons have already signed Northampton wing John Rudd, North Harbour flanker Brent Wilson, Rotherham prop Jon Golding and Otley lock Jason Oakes, while 10 of their senior academy side have been promoted to the first-team squad.
"The end of last season saw glimpses of what we are capable of when we have the likes of Jonny Wilkinson, Mathew Tait, Jamie Noon and Matt Burke in the same back-line behind our good young forwards," Andrew added.
"This is a squad which will develop together over a number of years."
