Catt joined Irish from Bath in 2004 |
London Irish skipper Mike Catt will stay on at the club for another year after agreeing terms to a new deal. World Cup-winning centre Catt, 34, had been tipped to join former club Bath in a coaching role next season.
But Catt, who was to be out of contract in the summer, will remain at the club he helped guide to a Premiership play-off berth for the first time.
Director of rugby Brian Smith said: "He has been pivotal to the success of the team this season."

Catt, who was also linked with a move to Leicester, was man of the match in the Exiles' 56-37 victory over Wasps last weekend as they moved up to third in the Premiership table and clinched a play-off place. "It is very encouraging for the club that we have retained Mike's services for another year," added Smith.
"Given the sort of rugby that he is playing for us it could help his case for selection for an England tour or the next World Cup."
Catt, who scored a try and kicked four conversions at High Wycombe on Sunday, said: "I am enjoying my rugby at Irish.
