Saracens pulled away from the Premiership's relegation zone by demolishing Worcester with two tries in each half at Vicarage Road.

Tevita Vaikona touched down after three minutes and Mark Bartholemeusz added a second just before the break.

Moses Rauluni and Dan Scarbrough scored in the second half with Glen Jackson adding three conversions and a penalty to move them 12 points clear of Leeds.

Worcester got late consolation tries through Siaosi Vaili and Aisea Havili.

From early on, Saracens dominated territory and earned plenty of possession as Vaikona latched onto Jackson's huge overhead pass to score in the corner.

Bartholemeusz finished off a move by centre Ben Johnston and Jackson converted for 15-3 interval lead.

Replacement scrum-half Rauluni forced his way over in the second half and Johnston's teasing break later set up Scarbrough for a clear run to the line as Saracens clinched a vital victory.

Mike Ford's side face big guns Wasps, Leicester and London Irish on the final three weekends of the season but victory against Leeds at Headingley on 7 April would almost certainly guarantee their top-flight status.

  • Saracens consultant Eddie Jones:
"Obviously conditions in winter play a part in it but the ambition side is surprising.

"It (the Premiership) is very tough physically, tactically and technically, but I'm surprised sides don't play with a bit more ambition in attack.

"Saracens have some very good players, they've had a difficult season but there's a real togetherness in the side."

  • Worcester coach John Brain:
"We had to create some pressure in the first 20 minutes and couldn't have got off to a worse start.

"We missed some first-up tackles and that's basic defending, whereas they defended very well and based their game around that.

"I expect Saracens to stay up and I think they'll go to Leeds with a fair degree of confidence."
