Gloucester have signed Scottish scrum-half Rory Lawson on a two-year contract from Edinburgh. The 24-year-old, currently on Scotland Sevens duty for the Commonwealth Games, will challenge Peter Richards and Hayden Thomas for the number nine spot.
"We believe he is an outstanding prospect and someone who can only benefit the club in the long-term," said Gloucester head coach Dean Ryan.
"He is the number three scrum-half in Scotland and ambitious to move higher."
Lawson has made five starts for Edinburgh this season as understudy to Scotland scrum-half Mike Blair, and captained the side in their last two games against Cardiff and Ulster.
The former Heriots FP player is the son of former Scotland international Alan Lawson and the grandson of legendary commentator Bill McLaren.
