Catt in line for England recall
Mike Catt
Catt has been a rock for London Irish this season
Veteran Mike Catt is set to be included in England's squad for their tour to Australia in June.

The 34-year-old centre, who has enjoyed a superb season with London Irish, was contacted by England coach Andy Robinson regarding his availability.

"I had a chat with him two weeks ago and he asked whether I was free," Catt told BBC News 24.

"I would love go on tour and help out in any shape or form. I'd also love to help out the youngsters in the party."

The South Africa-born player, who has been nominated for a Guinness Premiership Player of the Season award, won the last of his 65 caps during the ill-fated tour of Australia and New Zealand in June 2004.

He was part of England's World Cup-winning squad in 2003, playing a crucial role in their quarter-final win over Wales, and was awarded an MBE for his efforts.

"If England do come calling I'll give it a full blast whatever it might be, for just two Tests or right through to the World Cup," Catt said.

"I didn't play for England for two years prior to the last world Cup and look what happened. I haven't retired from international rugby and never wanted to. Age is not a factor."

Catt played 220 games for Bath over a 12-year period before moving to London Irish in July 2004.

This season he has helped the Exiles reach the Premiership play-offs for the first time.

He will stay with the club for another season having been linked to a coaching position at Bath.
