Leota won domestic and European medals in his time with Wasps |
Hooker Trevor Leota has parted company with Wasps by mutual consent. Leota joined Wasps in 1997 and became a crowd favourite and an important part of the side which enjoyed remarkable domestic and European success.
"It hurts to say goodbye as I've loved every moment," said the 30-year-old, who hopes to join a Super 14 side.
"However, I've always wanted to play in Super 12 and with it becoming the Super 14 I have an opportunity to play and also see my children more frequently."
Wasps chief executive David Davies paid tribute to Leota's hard work in his eight years in London.
"We recognise Trevor's contribution to the club during his years with us, in particular his help and hard work in the community," said Davies.
"It is out of recognition for this work that we have agreed to a mutual parting."
Meanwhile, Wasps have announced a new-look board with John O'Connell becoming vice-chairman and Davies taking on a director's role.
