Northampton extend Robinson deal
Mark Robinson
Robinson is ready to resume his career after a lengthy ban
Northampton scrum-half Mark Robinson has extended his contract at Franklin's Gardens until 2009.

The former All Black had one year left, but signed for three more before the final weekend of league action, which could have seen Saints relegated.

"I am very happy to be continuing my career at Northampton and was more than happy to sign my new contract ahead of last weekend's game," said Robinson.

"I hope to help Saints back up to the top of the Premiership next season."

Robinson, nicknamed Sharky, completed a 14-week ban on Tuesday for an incident involving Leeds Tykes' hooker Mark Regan.

"When he has played, Sharky has been fantastic for this club," said head coach Budge Pountney.

"He is a great team player and is highly valued within the squad.

"It's been an extremely difficult year for him with the 14-week ban he received but at least that has given him an opportunity to top up his air miles."
