Northampton's Mark Robinson has been handed a 14-week ban after he was sent off for stamping on Leeds' Mark Regan in the Powergen Cup quarter-finals. The scrum-half is now set to miss the rest of this season if Northampton do not reach the Zurich Premiership play-offs or the Heineken Cup final.
Robinson, who came on as a sub during the 24-19 loss to Leeds, has been a key player for Saints this season.
The club have until 1700 GMT on Wednesday to decide whether to appeal.
But Saints' operations director John Steele's reaction suggests the matter is over as far as they are concerned.
"The club is extremely disappointed that it is losing a key player at a crucial time of the season," he told the club website.
"But it accepts the findings of the panel."
