Gloucester bounced back from successive defeats with a much-needed victory over Saracens at Kingsholm. Tries from Mark Foster and James Bailey put them on their way. Ludovic Mercier made up for two failed conversions by kicking two penalties and a drop goal.
Matt Cairns went over for Sarries after 56 minutes, but Glen Jackson also failed to add the extras with the boot.
Jackson had succeeded early on with a penalty which levelled things at 3-3 before Gloucester surged ahead.
First, a clever break by wing Foster saw him carve his way through Saracens' defence and score in the left corner.
Mercier missed the conversion but Bailey soon added to Gloucester's lead, mainly thanks to an impressive break from the Frenchman.
Full-back Dan Scarbrough orchestrated Saracens' try as he made a break before offloading to Jackson.
Only a last-ditch tackle by Bailey prevented him from going over, but Sarries retained possession and spread the ball wide where Cairns found a gap in Gloucester's defence.
Gloucester coach Dean Ryan: "I'm much happier, and I am also very impressed by the way our young players brought such fantastic energy to the game."
Saracens coach Steve Diamond: "That performance was dreadful and certainly not far off one of our worst performances all season.
"Every player deserves a rollicking, from one to 15, because that was more than just a bad day in the office."
