Perry has been plagued by injury |
Former England full-back Matt Perry has signed a new two-year contract with Powergen Cup finalists Bath. The 28-year-old has been awarded a new deal after returning to fitness and form following a succession of injury problems over the past two seasons.
"The club's support of me when I was going through the bad times with injuries was tremendous," Perry said.
"This club is my home and my passion. I never wanted to go anywhere else, and I am really enjoying my rugby again."
Perry is set to make his 200th Bath appearance in Saturday's Zurich Premiership clash against Northampton, a week before they face Leeds in the Powergen Cup final.
He underwent intensive treatment with London-based specialist Mike Antoniades last year to cure persistent back and hamstring problems.
Perry, England's most-capped full-back with 36 Tests behind him, has not featured on the international stage since the Lions tour to Australia in 2001.
But he insists he is determined to play for England again.
"I'm still very ambitious and have a massive urge to pull on the red rose again," he told BBC Radio Bristol.
"Injuries have been the problem for me and the last three years have been an education for me."
